MOP 2: Steady state is of happiness!

Worldspace has a channel called Art of Living. It features devotional songs and regular discourses by Sri Sri Ravishankar.

Here are a few of his views that I feel should be part of a Mind opener post!

1) You don't need to try hard to be happy. You only try to be sad. Our natural state is of happiness. Look at children - they are always happy. Look at babies - you dont need to teach them to be happy. They are happy even looking at their own fingers. Frankly - we as a race seem to be working hard to be sad!

2) Enlightenment is a personal experience. Like pain. You can never explain it to others. Seek it for your own self.

MOP 1: On Children

I had an opportunity to run a session for students at Inventure Academy, a new school in Bangalore whch follows an education system based on Multiple Intelligences.

I chanced upon these words by Khalil Gibran on children.

These do make an impact on the minds of parents. Specially those like me who constantly try to do their best in doing the right things. There is no right, or wrong way. We do things based on our experiences - with our parents, and what we hear around us.

Parents will definitely enjoy this.

On Children. By Khalil Gibran.

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let our bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
